Michael Recycle

Once upon a time, there was a town called Pleasantville.  There were unwanted soda cans everywhere and it was unfair to the animals that there was pollution in to live in polluted habitats.  Smelly garbage was making the town people unhappy and hard to breathe.
One day, a superhero named Michael Recycle flew over Pleasantville.  His mission was to help the town people recycle objects such as newspaper, cans, and glass.  He wanted people to recall what the town looked like before pollution started, so he showed them a picture of a clean town and said,"Can you do it? Yes, you can!"
The town people agreed to recycle items to clean up the town.  They were uncertain if they could do a good job but they all pitched in.  They used precut boxes to store soda cans.  The Mayor collected and unloaded stacks of newspapers at the recycling center.  Everyone put food scraps into compost bins that they built in their backyard.  When there were any recycling chores left undone, the Mayor completed them.
Michael Recycle  was proud of the people's efforts.  He gave a pictre of the clean and beautiful Pleasantville to the town people.  The town people shouted with delight, "Thank you, Michael Recycle! We promise to reuse, reduce, and recycle in Pleasantville!"

This picture is taken from the owner's advertisement from Craigslist.

This is a picture of Candy.  This afternoon, we got her from a person who lives in Bedford.  She is now living in a cage in our kitchen.  She is black, 2-3 years old, and nervous about her new environment.

Juno the Artist

There once lived an artist who liked to draw with colored pencils.  His name was Juno and his dream was to become an illustrator for a book.
One morning, Juno decided to bring his supplies and drawing pad to the backyard to draw an Oak Tree. His dog started to bark at a bird.  Suddenly, it started to rain after he set up his drawing pad.  Thunder made a sharp sound that startled Juno.  He quickly brought his supplies inside the house.   He looked at the storm outside and thought, "Maybe first, I can watch my favorite sports program on T.V. while it rains." After a while, Juno finally decided to draw a sports scene.  After two hours, his hand was sore from drawing so he poured himself a glass of lemonade.
Two months later, a famous writer who wrote books for young adults asked Juno, "Can you be my new books' illustrator?"  Juno was surprised by this request and answered, "Yes, I will be happy to do so."
When the book was published, Juno was elated that his dream came true.

The Spelling Bee

One day, at school gym, some of the third grade girls were taking turns to practice their spelling words for the School Spelling Bee.
Kelly said to her good friend, Shannon, "First, spell the word world."  Shannon spelled the word fluently.
Shannon said, "Spell the word earn."  Kelly spelled the word without mistakes.
"Spell the word learn," said Kelly.  Shannon tried her best but she had a problem spelling the word.
"Kelly, spell the word perfect," said Shannon.  Kelly spelled the word correctly.  "Purr-fect!" said Shannon.
Due to their efforts, Kelly and Shannon won first prize in the School Spelling Bee!

The Surprise Party

Once upon a time, Turtle and Fish were best friends.  One day, Turtle wasn't in a good mood because Fish didn't invite him to a party.
Fish saw Turtle looking sad at the cafeteria.  He asked, "What's the matter?"
Turtle replied, "I won't tell you.  I am upset with you."
Fish pleaded, "You're my best friend!  Please tell me!  I want to know."
Turtle said," We'll talk about it later. Don't you have a party to go to?"
Fish exclaimed," How did you know about the party? It's supposed to be a surprise for you!"
Turtle explained, "I saw an invitation card at the playground.  That's how I know about it."
Fish revealed, "It is a surprise for your graduation!  Now it isn't a surprise anymore since you know about it."
Turtle said with a smile, "Thank you for being my best friend.  Can we still have the party?"
     Fish beamed, "Sure! Let's go!"
Together with all their friends, they had the best party ever!

The Wonder Pets Saved the Fish

Once upon a time, there was a chick, a guinea pig, and a turtle that formed a team called The Wonder Pets.  Together, they save other animals from danger.
They lived in a school and they belong to a teacher.  The chick was hatched two months ago, so they had a celebration in the classroom.    After lunch, they heard a cry from a fish who lived in the stream.    The fish needed help to escape from thick, mucky water.
Before they helped the fish, they passed by a lunch bag that has stretchy cheese with mayonnaise.  They sang a song, "What's going to work? Teamwork!"  Then, they used their magic flying boat to transport the fish from the murky water to the clean stream.
"Our work here is done!" said the turtle.  "It's time for celery!" shouted the guinea pig.

The Tree That Grew Golden Threads

Once upon a time, there was a hunter who found a tree that grew a golden thread a day.
He told the King and the King was filled with joy.  The King ordered three knights to take care of the tree.  The first knight sprayed clean water on the tree.  The second knight scrubbed the tree branches.  The third knight spread beautiful streamers on the tree.
On the street, people saw signs that said, "Do not go near the tree.  If you do, you will be thrown into the prison."
The King was getting impatient with getting only one golden thread a day.  One day, he ordered twenty-five strong men to cut down the tree.  When the tree was cut down, there was nothing inside the tree.  The King screamed, "Why did I cut down the tree?  I will never have another golden thread!"
After that, the King learnt his lesson and always tried to be patient.
